Peekaboo app review: watch this old-school kids’ game comes to life with this animated & interactive guessing game app

Reviews

Introduction

Peekaboo is perhaps the oldest and most well-known game among generations of humans. Peekaboo - by BabyFirst brings this classic “game” to your iPhone and iPad to help your child also learn to guess and navigate as he or she plays the game.

I know that anytime I spend time with a young'un, I inevitably end up playing Peekaboo with them and perhaps looking like a complete fool to befuddled on-lookers, who will perhaps in turn play the same game with the aforementioned baby.

I have reviewed more than a few apps in the Education category, especially those designed for infants. Hands down, this has to be one of the cutest little apps I have had the pleasure of coming across. It isn't too overwhelming with colors and audio, while at the same time being interesting, engaging, and fun for the child.

It Works!

I am no child development expert, unlike the developers and designers of this game, but I can see this app becoming any infant's favorite very quickly. I tested it out on my friends' two-year-old today and all I could see was her endearingly giggling away and having a great time.

You would have no idea she was throwing one of her “Terrible Twos” tantrum just a few minutes before I succumbed to this distraction as a Hail Mary pass!

Featuring a super cute and happy-go-lucky host this game gives your child hints and clues to encourage the baby towards the hiding place of this blue-colored character, turning it from a plain old giggle-inducing game to an educational and interactive guessing game.

Peekaboo, I See You!

This character is called - you guessed it - Peekaboo. To offer clues, he waves his hand from behind objects, swings to and from objects, rolls around, bounces, somersaults, and stealthily tiptoes to a variety of hiding locations.

A lot of thought and care was put into this little game, as it was designed by child psychology experts as well as tested by children before being released into the iTunes store. The fact that it is a free app is a bit surprising especially considering how well it has been executed.

Final Words

A very cute and engaging app for babies, Peekaboo - by BabyFirst is definitely going to capture any child's interest. Since it's free, I'd highly recommend downloading it onto your iPhone or iPad so you can have a portable game to keep your baby occupied whether you are out at a relative's place or driving in a car.
