Angry Birds Space App Review
Angry Birds Space Free
Top 100: Ranked #33 on the Top 100 Free Iphone Apps List as of July 18th
For: iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod touch 3rd generation/4th generation, iPad
Just when you thought you threw the last stone, the lovable birds are back with a vengeance. Angry Birds Space Rovio, the company behind Angry Birds, more than makes up for giving us lackluster Angry Birds sequels such as Angry Birds Seasons and Angry Birds Rio, which failed to bring the game to a new level. This time, the birds are out of this world – literally – as they are now fighting pigs in outer space.
By downloading the iPhone version for $1.00 and the HD version for the iPad, you get complete access to the first two phases, namely the “Pig Bang”and the “Cold Cuts.” These phases have 30 challenging levels to unlock.
Much of the same birds are back with the exception of the small boomerang birds which were not well-liked. This new version has also introduced a handy new bird on the block, the ice-cube bird, which shatters everything it hits.
The routine is the same with other Angry Birds games wherein you use a slingshot to shoot the birds toward the pigs in hopes to obliterate them one by one. If you are successful, you unlock the next phase. However, there is a new force to be reckoned with, and that is the gravitational pull. Instead of simply shooting at pigs, you now have to fight against the gravitational pull of nearby asteroids and planets. What happens is that instead of having a clean shot, the bird may go around an asteroid or hit something else on the other side.
Most reviews are highly favourable, with users gaining back the enthusiasm they once had for the game. Though there are still only two phases or chapters, fans are excited for the upcoming chapters as Rovio has promised more to come.
