Standing tall and proud amongst the competition is this awesome weather forecasting app for iPhone and iPad that has been designed specifically to provide residents of Dickinson, North Dakota with a reliable source of meteorological reports on a daily basis.

This is a great app for which I have very few complaints to make. My only pet peeve is that there is no Video and Blog sections. These are sometimes offered in apps of this kind, and it’s a shame that the developers haven’t included this from the KQCD studios because it can make a huge difference having a friendly face to put to the information.

Other than that, this is a more than adequate app that I think will serve Dickinson and the surrounding regions just fine.

The first thing you’ll see upon first starting up this app is the Map section, which shows a detailed radar map of Dickinson and the local vicinity so that you can see weather fronts advancing throughout the region.

The Map section of KQCD WX essentially doubles up as the home screen for the app, detailing the current temperature, humidity, and wind speed and direction, in addition to a basic prediction of tomorrow’s weather.

I really like this fact because once you’ve synchronized the app with your location by using your device’s integrated GPS, you can essentially get all the weather information you need for your local area from just this single part of the app.

Of course, if you are looking for a little something extra, then you’ll be sure to look at the Hourly section, and especially the 10 Day section. The latter includes a full week’s forecast, and then some, so you’ll be able to stay well ahead of the weather with ease.

Another perk of the 10 Day section is that in addition to the high and low temperatures for each day, it also includes a basic prediction for what conditions are expected for each coming evening.

In addition to all of this, the Alerts section can be used to set up severe weather notifications that will let you know if any storms, hurricanes, and other nasty conditions are headed your way.
