Wake Alarm Clock app review: a beautiful and intuitive alarm for your mobile device

Reviews

Introduction

If you’re looking for an effective way of waking up in the morning then this alarm clock app for iPhone and iPad should fit the bill perfectly, providing an awesome gesture-based control system that you can use to snooze and deactivate the alarm.

The best timer apps for iPhone

Having reviewed quite a few different alarm clock and sleep aid apps over the past few months, I have to say there isn’t really much creativity or innovation going on from what I’ve seen…But Wake Alarm Clock is definitely an exception to this rule.

The Shake Bar alone is a very cool feature which definitely sets this app apart from the competition, but the control system and general layout as a whole make Wake Alarm Clock something special for sure.

Shake it Like a Polaroid

My absolute favorite feature of Wake Alarm Clock is the Shake Bar. Basically, when your alarm goes off in the morning, you can have SHAKE mode activated so that you have to, yes you guessed it, shake your mobile device until the Shake Bar is filled.

There are three ‘difficulty’ levels, so to speak, requiring you to shake harder and for longer, so you won’t be able to get away with just a quick shuffle!

If you’re not such a fan of SHAKE mode then, of course, you can deactivate it and perhaps opt for SLAP & FLIP mode instead. As funny as it sounds, I like this option too. Simply slap you device to snooze the alarm, or flip it to turn the alarm off altogether, just like an old-fashioned alarm clock.

Use Your Own Music as Alarm Sounds

In addition to these rather novel features, you can also hook up the app to your iTunes Music Library and use your own songs for alarm tones, that is, if you choose to forego the 12 sounds that come as default.

You can only set up a total of eight alarms with Wake Alarm Clock, which isn’t a whole lot but I can’t really see many people needing more than eight alarms set up simultaneously so this shouldn’t be too much of an issue for most.

Final Words

Some may look at Wake Alarm Clock’s gesture-based features as a little gimmicky but personally I’m a huge fan!

This is a great iPhone and iPad app that has really caught my attention and definitely receives my recommendation.
