Introduction

Time for a road trip! Designed for three to seven year olds, Dr. Panda's Bus Driver is an iPhone and iPad app that encourages your child to lead the way by driving a customized bus and taking adorably cute passengers where they want to go.

Like most similar children's game apps, this one costs $2.99, but will it engage and draw in your child or will it be yet another app that your child uses for one or two plays before it is forgotten and buried within the endless list children's apps on your iOS device? Let's see what this game has to offer.

Customize Your Bus!

Subtly teaching your child to take responsibility for personal space, Dr. Panda's Bus Driver starts off with your child receiving a big bus which has to be managed by the child. The first step is to customize the bus to your liking. Do you want the bus to be orange with a green hood? Or red with some blue stripes?

All the colors of the rainbow are available in buckets of paint which can be applied to different parts of the bus in any way your child pleases. The bus can then be taken into the vehicle wash and gas station to ensure that it's clean and ready to take out on the road!

It's time to take the wheel and step on it!

Changing Landscapes

One really interesting feature of this app is that the scenery outside of the bus is generated at random. You never know if you will be driving atop a mountain with beautiful waterfalls or through a field of pretty flowers. Your child can slow down and enjoy the view outside or take advantage of the “rocket-boost” which allows you to go at head-spinning speeds!

Sometimes you will want to go quickly from point A to point B. There are cute animal characters that will want to get on your bus for a ride to a specific destination. You can take them through beautiful scenery so they enjoy the view or get them to their destination quickly and efficiently.

Because the Dr. Panda “world” is random generated, there is a lot of scope for gameplay duration. Go through drawbridges, stop at railroad crossings and watch the trains go by, drive into a tunnel, and enjoy other landscape features.

As you can probably tell by now, despite the developers' claim that this app is suitable for three to seven year olds, I have thoroughly enjoyed playing it myself and will continue to have it on my iPhone for dull moments.

Final Words

Dr. Panda's Bus Driver is hands down one of my favorite iPhone and iPad apps in this category and I would highly recommend it to parents and babysitters of three to seven year olds. I would also recommend it to those who have a child-like mind and enjoy all kinds of videogames!
