Spy Kit app review: become a spy with a range of high-tech whoozits and whatsits

Reviews

Introduction

Whether you grew up wanting to be like Bond or you’re more of a Bourne kinda guy, you’re going to love this iPhone and iPad app which provides you with your very own spy kit so that you can keep your device and its contents safe and secure while also reliving your childhood!

The best iPad apps for gadgets

I absolutely love the idea behind this app, and although I’ve seen loads of different tool kit and all-in-one apps, this is the first I’ve seen that is presented as a spy kit. The presentation is fairly simple but the concept itself is a heap of fun while also offering some actual practical use for iPhone and iPad users.

Even if you don’t want to get up to all sorts of mischief pretending to be an MI5 agent, you can at least use the Vault section to store your files securely under encryption. You can also share your files with your fellow secret agents from within the app, again with a decent level of encryption.

Ever Wanted to Become a Spy?

Spy Kit provides all manner of tools and utilities that you can use to become a real life secret agent, with said tools ranging from cool and quirky to actually pretty darned useful in certain situations.

The best gadget apps for the iPhone

The “cool and quirky” features are things like the Bug that you can use to turn your phone into a recording device that will trigger on sound and motion. Or how about the Covert Cam that takes pictures every so often while the screen remains off?

These are ideal for using on recon missions or for gaining a little more information on a suspect to determine the location of their secret underground lair.

Fun AND Practical All In One

As for the more practical features, you’ll find more typical things like a flashlight, strobe light, and a cool Intruder Alert feature that will sound an alarm if someone tries to nab your iPhone. These are pretty generic features but it’s certainly good to see them in the mix with the more obscure tools.

Another very useful feature is the Vault section which essentially acts like any normal secure file storage utility. Everything is stored under tight encryption with passcode protection, and you can also share files securely with your fellow agents online.
