Pins app review: plot your locations

Reviews

Introduction

Are you always traveling around and moving from location to location? Most of us have busy lives so we're off to this and that place with no time to spare. The Pins app can be used on your iPod touch, iPad, and iPhone to act as your own personal location assistant. All you need to do is tap on it to instantly record your location and you can do this time and time again as you move from place to place.

Why Use this App?

I think where this app really excels is in its social offering. As you pin all your different locations you can share these with your friends, which makes it easy to meet up or even share what you've been up to. You can share this information in a number of ways such as Facebook, Twitter, email, and iMessage. The app supports iCloud so that you have your Pins with you at all times and you can go back and look at them any time you want. Now it should be noted that Geofence is only available to students in KIT (Kyoto Institute of Technology).

The best iPhone apps for traveling abroad

This app is only available to iOS 7 users. In its most recent update it features a number of bug fixes, a new animation, and a brand new tool that lets you export all your pins on a search bar list. As of right now there are no customer comments or a rating.

What You Can Do

So what exactly can you do with this app? Well it is kept quite simple and basic but that is part of its allure. This one isn't meant to be complex which is why you can pin your location with just one tap. Some of the customization tools you are offered include being able to change the color of each individual pin. You can then sort your pins by color to keep things managed and organized. You can see all your pins in one single map and use navigation in Baidu Maps, Google Maps, and Apple Maps. The app is immediately able to get your location. Plotting and sharing your location doesn’t have to be hard, it can be as easy as one tap like this app shows.

While this app offers plenty of benefits and pros such as a clean and simple user interface I do feel it is very one-dimensional. You may be left looking and wanting more as I was.
