Lipa Dots App Review : An early learning English language app

Reviews

Introduction

When I was a kid I loved these particular books where you had to connect the dots to make a picture appear. I remember these books quite vividly as I was intrigued with how you can draw something so easily by just using dots to connect them. It was also a great way to learn about new things when you are very young. Developer Lipa Learning S.R.O. developed Lipa Dots as a part of their extensive learning program for preschoolers to help them learn the English language in a fun and playful way. The app is now completely free of charge. Lipa Dots less than 70 MB.

What does the app have to offer?

The app offers a simple level structure for your kids to work themselves through. Your children will have to connect the dots and make all the incomplete objects appear. All of these objects move around and are fully animated after they are completed. The app offers tons of different ones, and it’s really great for your child to guess what object is hidden behind the sea of dots. Tracking the dots is really easy, as instead of using numbers like the pen and paper versions of the past, the app will simply light up the next dot that needs to be connected. This works really well, but makes it extremely easy for anyone, even the youngest, to complete this game. They will never make a mistake again, but they won’t learn the order of numbers.

Graphics and Sound

You can tell that the app is designed for the smallest of children, not just by its simplicity, but also due to the fact that the sounds are very limited. The music is cute, but can be switched off while all the sound effects will always be on. These sound effects don’t include any spoken word, which is really weird for an app that is supposed to teach you how to speak! There are just some shouts and some minor sounds. The graphics are quite nice and will really appeal to your children.

Conclusion

For an app that is supposed to teach your child English, this app fails in this area. Even though the app looks cute and will keep your child busy for a long time, the app simply doesn’t have any spoken words or text included, so the only thing your child will actually learn is the shape of things and where you can find them. This app is merely there to entertain your kids and for that it will do a fantastic job. The app is designed for both iPad and iPhone and is less than 70 MB.
