Megacity HD Price: $0.99 For: iPhone, iPod touch, iPad Megacity HD describes itself as simple to pick up but challenging to master, and was voted 9/10 by AppGamer. Megacity HD, as one user puts it, is both Sim City and an endless cast of puzzles that is a highly addictive arcade-style game, with a fresh style and some innovative city planning. The aim of Megacity HD is to build a city by planning and focusing on what’s ahead while placing your buildings in a queue to score points. It’s up to you how you create your city but to progress you need to balance your books within the tight budget in order  to build an aesthetically pleasing city. Parks and schools are a must but be careful how you set up the electricity grid as you may electrocute the local politician! Megacity HD's main features list multiple types of buildings from which to choose; the George Gershwin soundtrack which is a bit funky; and new challenges in the puzzle mode. You can also log your scores online in the Game Center. There are a few in-app purchases to be had in order to unlock up to 10 buildings. These purchases range from one to two dollars and it’s up to you how far you’d like to progress before you spend any money on the app. Its newest version (1.60) has completely re-jigged the graphics which some users love, while others don't like. There are new sound effects, the new “save a tile” slot for when you want to take a breather, and a new tutorial stage. It’s a shame there are buildings which you need to actually pay for, but the more points you accrue should go some distance for allowing you to play this game for free.
