Voice Translator app review: on the fly translation

Reviews

Introduction

If you commonly come across a lot of different languages in your job or daily life in general then you might want to consider this iPhone and iPad app as it provides quick and easy translation of words and phrases from more than 70 different languages around the world.

The best iPad apps for translations

This appears to be a very well developed app with a wonderfully simplistic layout and a vast collection of definitions, translations, and so on, so I would definitely recommend checking it out if you are in the market for this kind of resource.

The only concern I have is that you might have trouble having non-English languages translated back into English if the person isn’t speaking very clearly. For more on this, be sure to look at the Pros & Cons section below.

All in all, I’m pretty impressed with what the developer has done here, so I’d definitely suggest taking it for a spin to see what you think.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • It's possibly one of the easiest translating apps out there
  • Includes support for 71 different languages
  • A solid voice-to-voice translator app
  • Reference definitions for common words and phrases by speaking into your device
  • Share your translations with others online via email and text message

Cons

  • Most users have reported very positive experiences with this app; however, one person has left the following complaint: “I work in a very busy and diverse medical office. I downloaded this, hoping to somewhat bridge the communication gap. It worked for a few minutes, then stopped recognizing the voice. It kept saying, "sorry didn't get that". I speak very clearly... And my microphone works. I can type it out, but it takes a lot of time. Also, when I have someone who speaks another language try to translate to English, it doesn't translate well at all.”

Final Words

Voice Translator - On the Fly Translation is a decent iPhone and iPad app, although I can’t promise that it will be entirely reliable on the voice translation front.

If in doubt, you might want to try out some of the free voice translator apps in the Travel category of the App Store.
