Planetarium app review: float though space and explore the universe

Reviews

Introduction

if you've ever fantasized about launching off and taking a tour of our solar system and more, Planetarium is one app that will turn your fantasy into reality, all from the convenience of your iPhone or iPad.

Through your iOS device, you can use the Planetarium app to navigate through space and visit all the major celestial bodies that constitute our solar system and the 88 International Astronomical Union Constellation.

You can purchase this  astronomy app from the Reference category of the App Store, where it is available for only $1.99, which is a fairly reasonable price for your very own personal planetarium!

Let's take a look at the awesome features of this app.

An Educational Endeavor

When I find apps like Planetarium, the first thought that crosses my mind is that there will be very little space left on my already space-deficient astronomy app for iPhone. It was a pleasant surprise to see that this app takes up just 8.8 MB of space!

As you navigate your way across our solar system and beyond, you will be able to learn all the unique features and aspects of each of these astronomical objects including planets, moons, and more. You will receive pop-up facts right in the main view as you go along, and if you want more detailed information, you can get it with the tap of a button.

You'll be pleased to know that if you just fancy a ride along space to clear your head and enjoy the wonders, you can also turn off all the UI elements which will allow you to enjoy your ride in peace without any pop-ups or science thrown at you!

Control Your Spaceship

Users will absolutely love the gesture-based navigation features as they make their way through space. When you reach a planet or moon that you'd like to check out, you can tap the middle of the screen and drag it around to rotate it. In fact, the planet continues to rotate even if you lift your finger while it's moving so you can take a look at it from all angles.

Zoom in to check it out up close and even double tap to zoom out to other objects to see what the view would be like from the object you're currently on.

Space is vast and the distances are almost inconceivable to us humans. If you get lost outside of our solar system, you can just shake your iOS device to return to the view from Earth. If you're still inside the solar system, this shake feature will rotate the moon or planet to enable you to see the surface from all directions.

Final Words

I think Planetarium is perhaps one of the best astronomical apps I've ever come across thanks to the fact that it's highly configurable for users, very pleasant-looking, and provides users with their very own planetarium on their iPhone or iPad which they can carry around with them wherever they go.
