Negotiate It app review: save money with phone calls

Reviews

Introduction

If your telephone negotiation skills leave much to be desired then you might want to check out Negotiate It - Save Money with Phone Calls (by Ramit Sethi) on your iPhone and iPad for detailed guides on exactly how to push the right buttons with various salesmen and service providers over the phone.

The best call blocking apps for iPhone

I absolutely love the idea behind this app because I think that all too often, people are missing out on special offers and available discounts simply because they either lack the confidence to negotiate or they’re just not aware that they even have the option.

The content in this app is a little basic given the price but I definitely think it could go a long way to instilling some confidence in those of you who would otherwise never argue or negotiate with people on the phone.

Easily Overcome Objections

This app contains detailed scripts that will guide you through how to negotiate on price over the phone, with the intention of helping you to save money on your Internet, cell phone, cable, and many other bills.

The scripts work on a kind of “if-then” basis, so if your attempts at negotiation are rejected or the person on the phone puts up some kind of objection then you can specify in the app to quickly be presented with an alternative approach.

Set Up Callback Reminders

Negotiate It - Save Money with Phone Calls (by Ramit Sethi) also enables you to monitor your savings and add notes for each call so you know how to improve next time. There will be somewhat of a learning curve involved in this process but I think it’s a great idea.

What’s more, you can also set up reminders so you don’t forget when it comes time to call back for further negotiations, so be sure to pester those service providers the way their salespeople pester all of us!

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Find detailed scripts that will guide you through how to negotiate on price over the phone
  • Great for saving money on your Internet, cell phone, cable, and many other bills
  • Discover exactly what to say if the person on the phone rejects your negotiations
  • Record your savings and add notes for each call so you know how to improve next time
  • Includes a collection of well known company telephone numbers for quick and easy use
  • Set up reminders so you don’t forget when it comes time to call back for further negotiations

Cons

  • This definitely appears to be a great idea for people who lack confidence or know-how regarding optimal telephone manner; however, one user makes a solid point regarding its overall thoroughness: “Considering that this APP saved me 20% on my internet bill, I guess it's worth the $5 asking price. I downgraded it two stars because the scripts and interface are very basic. I also could not edit the amount of money saved when I accidentally added it twice for tracking. I feel like the APP should be more in depth and not so "bare bones" for $5 but am still happy I saved money.”

Final Words

Negotiate It - Save Money with Phone Calls (by Ramit Sethi) for iPhone and iPdad could definitely do with being a little cheaper, but I think that if it helps you to save even a couple of percentage points on one of your bills then it will almost definitely have paid for itself. This is probably the best free phone call apps for negotiating with phone service providers in order to save money.
