Sleep Machine - Binaural Beats app review: sleep easy every night

Reviews

Introduction

Making a wonderfully effective addition to the Sleep Machine range of apps is Sleep Machine - Binaural Beats for iPhone and iPad, providing you with loads of different ambient sound effects and binaural beats that you can use to induce different mental states and sleep longer and deeper.

The development team behind the Sleep Machine apps is really doing a great job of putting out some solid sleep aids that I would highly recommend to any of you who are having trouble drifting off or staying asleep through the night.

There has been one fairly heartfelt complaint that you can see in the Pros & Cons section below, but personally I’m quite impressed by the quality of the audio. Admittedly some of the tracks do sound a bit over-processed but the quality is generally fairly high.

This app has been designed to help you sleep more deeply with 54 ambient sound effects and seven ambient music tracks, plus 14 binaural beats intended to induce different mental states.

All of the available sounds can be mixed together in endless combinations so you can find something that works well for you. Once you have made a decent mix you can add it to your Favorites list for quick and easy access each night.

Adjust Audio Levels of Sounds Individually

The audio levels of each ambient sound can be adjusted individually within Sleep Machine - Binaural Beats, and you can set up individual sleep timers for ambient sounds and binaural beats so that the audio will automatically fade out as you fall asleep.

This app certainly isn’t without its flaws but overall I think it’s a great addition to the genre of sleep aid apps so I would definitely recommend checking it out.

Cons

  • There has been one complaint regarding the quality of the audio: “The nature sounds are sped up, super charged, overkill. Not relaxing. For example, the bird sounds are like you are standing in a packed atrium full of too many birds. It sounds stressful, not relaxing. Same with the frog track and the crickets. You expect few frogs, slow and peaceful, but it's frog mayhem. The only nature sound I can use is the beach track they call small waves, but it is sounds like the waves are in fast motion compared to the lazy gentle lapping of my tropical island home.”

  • Multitasking is not supported
