Ads Galore, and Expensive to Boot
Kids Chore Time may have been a lot more fun if there weren’t ads popping up all the time. There seems to be a pattern with kids’ game apps where you are only provided with one unlocked option, but the kids can see all of them. This makes the kids want the other options naturally, and then the parent has to choose between deleting the app to stop the constant asking, or giving in and paying the exorbitant fee for the in-app purchase. This app has four mini-activities, but to go add free is $0.99, and if you want to do more of the fun activities, unlocking everything is $4.99 or each room individually for $2.99!

My six-year-old did have fun with this app, but she is old enough that she has figured out how to exit most ads. Occasionally I have to get out of the App Store and back into the game for her, but overall it wasn’t too bad.
Do Kids Want to Do Digital Chores?
Let’s face it. Kids are weird! Kids Chore Time plays on this by having your kid ironing for Pete’s sake! Ironing! Yet my daughter happily ironed for a good 15 minutes before moving on to the next game. My two-year-old enjoyed the clothes line, and hanging up the clothes.
Best iphone and ipad appsThe dishes kept glitching. I would wash a few dishes, and then the hand would fail to bring in a new one. I reset the game a few times, but it continued to do this. Another complaint I had with this particular activity was the blatant wasting of dishes in the technique they were encouraging. An empty sink, a soapy sponge, and rinsing every dish in running water is not the best way to do things.

Final Thoughts
Kids Chore Time for iPhone and iPad app that has an interesting idea for kids to practice chores digitally. I don’t know how effective it will be, but kids to find it oddly entertaining. What they don’t enjoy is the contestant interruption of the ads. Before you even start to play, there are three ads. A lot of the ads do not exit when you click the x either. If this app wants to get more downloads, they need to fix this, as they have several unflattering reviews on the App Store as well.
