Introduction
Laugh & Learn™ Animal Sounds for Baby for iPad is also available for iPhone. It is an app for young children to tap and hear the animal sounds, but also has a flash card mode where in there is one animal, the name of the animal, and tapping that animal emits a fun fact and sound or motion. My two-year-old loves this app when we are waiting for appointments, or need a minute in line.

Educational and Fun
Laugh & Learn™ Animal Sounds for Baby for iPad is a fun app for young children. Young kids want to be like their older siblings, and want to copy, so as time goes on, more and more apps are being developed for this age range. The apps try to be educational, but studies have not proven any benefit to trying to teach children this age complicated ideas such as reading, spelling, or math. Natural exploration does, however, help them to have an affinity toward learning.

What I like about this little game is that the animals are interactive. In level 1, they don’t just stand there, or play a little set; they do a small movement and then wait for your young child to touch the animal. Once tapped, the animal makes a sound. The second tap has a fun fact, and both times the animal’s name is repeated with the word highlighted. I doubt that my daughter cared much about the word being highlighted, but it is a word none the less, that will be seen by her little mind.
In level 2, there are sets of four animals. Your child taps them, they interact, and when you scroll you get a more detailed interaction with one animal. As you scroll the animals shuffle between wild and farm, and your child may learn to group the animals together.

Cute Cartoon Animals
Laugh & Learn™ Animal Sounds for Baby for iPad doesn’t try to draw the animals realistically. I appreciate this because you may as well use a photograph or a short video if you are going to do realism. That being said, this app has nice bright colors, true to fact colors, and the animals are easily recognizable.
Laugh & Learn™ Animal Sounds for Baby for iPad also has built-in child controls. What I mean by this is that you have to tap the home button twice to get back to the main menu, and if you have Guided Access turned on, than they can’t get to the home screen, or out of the app. The day I discovered Guided Access was a happy day!

Final Thoughts
Laugh & Learn™ Animal Sounds for Baby for iPad is also available for iPhone and is a fun interactive animal recognition app for young kids. While it does have educational elements, the studies that have been done have not proven any benefit to trying to teach children this young. It will encourage children to want to learn, however, and this is worth the fun exploration to me. My two-year-old really enjoyed it, so if you want to rotate fun apps, this is one I’d add to the rotation.
