Fun and Animated

Endless Numbers starts with a Ferris wheel menu that spins around. You meet the characters as they go on their ride, and you then select car 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5. Cars 6-25 are locked and available for an in app-purchase price of $4.99 or 6-100 for $11.99. That is expensive!

I’m a little torn on this app. On one hand, it does have good teaching content, starting with the number, count the eyes, add it to another number, and so on, but to get the rest of the number is a lot of money, and you can’t share it amongst the class like some other apps.

If the price were to come down, I think it would be worth it, but for now I would stick with the free version.

Repetitious Fun

Endless Numbers uses repetition and patterns so that your student knows what to expect. Through the rotating activities, your child will be able to slide the numbers into place like puzzle pieces, and even learn how to do simple addition.

For 1-5, the only numbers I could trial for free, you first slide the number onto it’s outline, then poke it’s eyes.

For 2-5 you then slide the numbers and the plus sign into place, after which the equals sign spits out the answer and repeats the question, such as ʺone plus one,ʺ then spits, ʺone plus one equals 2!ʺ and the two flies out of the mouth. It’s very fun.

The concept of having monsters is definitely fun. Monsters can have as many eyes as you would like to draw for them, and up to 5 they each have the same number of eyes as the number.

I’m not sure how you would draw 100 eyes on the number 100, and I’m not going to pay $11.99 to find out, but it would certainly be interesting to see!

Final Thoughts

Endless Numbers for iPad and iPhone has a great start. I love how they have made it repetitious and colorful, and how your child gets to poke the eyes of the monsters to count them.

What I don’t like is the price. $4.99 to $11.99 is outrageous for an app, and while I understand that a similar computer game would cost at least that much, it is hard to justify the expense when there are other similar games out there for much less.

Overall, this is a fun game, but as it only goes up to five, I would not keep it on my iPad.
