ZooGaga app review: go gaga over this cute animal puzzle game

Reviews

Introduction

iPhones and iPads are incomplete without a fun arcade game, whether it's there to help you kill time on commutes, or to enable your procrastination habit. ZooGaga is a super addictive puzzle game that is aimed at younger audiences and packaged in a fun zoo theme.

This game is very similar to the ever popular Candy Crush, except rather than inanimate candy, it features some rather adorable animals to engage the interests of young children.

This app can be found in the Games section of the App Store, where it is available completely free of charge.

Let's take a closer look at this app.

Interface and Set-up

ZooGaga only takes up 26.7 MB of space on your iOS device, so it downloads within minutes. The interface has the feel of a beautiful national park, and sure enough, it is is positively adorable, even for a fully grown woman such as myself.

The first order of business is to sign in using Game Center. You will receive a prompt upon launching this app, so all you need to do is enter the password associated with your Apple ID and you can start playing. Many people are put off by Game Center integration, but I personally enjoy the ability to unlock achievements and climb up the leaderboards!

After you sign in, you'll be taken to the main menu which consists of three options: Play, Leaderboard, and How To Play.

Characters & Gameplay

As I mentioned before, the gameplay is similar to Candy Crush, wherein you switch around the position of two characters by swiping your finger up, down, left, or right to form rows of three or more that constitute the same character.

Rather than switching out candy, you will be working with animals such as hippos, elephants, and frogs. New characters are introduced into the mix as you progress through the fifty increasingly challenging levels of this game. The graphics are really cute, and truly make the animals come to life.

If you manage to get four or five same-species animals lined up, you will receive special power ups that help you level up and proceed to the next stage that much quicker.

Another great feature about this game, which was not present on other similar games that I've tried, is that you can save your moves on easier levels so that you have more to use through the more challenging levels of the game.
