iMessenger app review: temperamental communication

Reviews

Introduction

iMessenger - Real Communication for iPhone is a highly disappointing instant messaging app for iPhone and iPad that has left quite a few users unhappy, so you would probably be wise to avoid this Whatsapp wannabe.

This seems to be the kind of app that leaves a decent initial impression on users before the frays become more and more apparent as greater demands are placed on its various features.

Unreliable Functionality

This messaging app features Rapid Message Status so that you can easily tell if your messages have been delivered and/or read, working in a very similar way to similar instant messaging apps such as Facebook Messenger and Whatsapp.

iMessenger is free of ongoing monthly costs which makes it a pretty handy way of saving on expensive SMS fees, so with coverage for pretty much every major country in the world it definitely sounds very appealing.

Read the Pros & Cons

Before making your own decision about iMessenger - Real Communication for iPhone I would strongly urge you to read the Pros & Cons section below.

It appears as if the performance is unreliable at best, with Push notifications, message receipts, and so on not being delivered in a timely manner. For this reason, I would recommend steering clear until the developer has fixed these issues.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Enjoy Rapid Message Status so you know if your messages have been delivered and/or read
  • Completely free of ongoing monthly costs so you can save on SMS fees
  • Provides coverage for pretty much every major country in the world
  • Multitasking enables you to receive message notifications with the app minimized or your device locked

Cons

  • Although my initial impression of this app has been fairly positive, I do wonder about its ongoing performance as a couple of users have brought some issues to my attention like the difficulty of not being able to read a text straight from your screen without going into the app, and difficulties with consistent service.

Final Words

iMessenger - Real Communication for iPhone does show a lot of promise but until the aforementioned flaws have been cleared up you’re probably better off looking elsewhere for your iOS instant messaging fix.
