Billiard Pro app review

Reviews

Introduction

There are many sport apps like Billiard Pro for iPad and iPhone. The downside of these apps are that they should not at all be in the sports section on the App Store, but in a different section all together. This app in particular will lose a lot of customers, simply because I believe that it would have a lot more chance to be noticed in the gaming section, as this game is nothing more than a billiards game. Technically it’s not even billiards, but pool, which makes the name of the game poorly chosen as well. Add to the fact that this app isn’t translated properly, and the conclusion is that this game wasn’t ready at all to be released yet. The app weighs in at just over 30 MB.

Gameplay

As this app is not a sports app at all, but a sports game, I will review this app as a game. To be honest, the game is actually quite good and really fun to play, offline as well as online. The game is easy to control, pretty precise, and gives you a lot of options when it comes to effect balls and precise aim. The only downside when it comes to gameplay is that you will have to wait for players to play their move when you play online, and sometimes this can take quite a while. It takes some of the speed out of the game, so if you want a speedy game, play offline.

Graphics and Sound

The graphics of the game are actually quite good. Even though you can’t zoom in or out, you will always have enough vision on the table and you will never have any problem seeing where the ball goes. The graphic style of the characters in the game is different, but looks quite nice. The sound of the game is also well done and it does sound like the sound pool makes. The biggest problem about the design is the fact that half of the game’s text is still in Vietnamese and for anyone who doesn’t speak that language it’s incomprehensible.

Conclusion

It’s really starting to grow into a pet peeve of mine, these apps that are simply wrongly submitted. How hard can it be to fill in the genre of an app that you spent tons of time and money on to develop? The game is in Vietnamese for half of the time, which is especially annoying in the tutorial before you can get into the real game. The offline game is perfect for a quick play while online you might have to wait for a while. The app is just over 30 MB.
