Flipster - Digital Magazines app review: an app that allows you to access magazines 2021

Reviews

Introduction

Flipster app for iPhone and iPad is a digital magazine app that allows you to access magazine subscriptions that your local library has, so you can access all the magazines they have on offer for free.

The best magazine apps for iPad

As you might know, Some libraries in the world have also tons of magazines on offer that they subscribe to. Nowadays, most of these magazines also have a digital counterpart, which allows the libraries to offer these to their subscribers as well.

"How would this work?" I hear you thinking.

Developer EBSCO Publishing has found a perfect way to make this work and is working with libraries all over the United States to bring digital subscriptions straight to your iDevice.

The digital magazine iPhone app is roughly 1 MB, but downloading magazines will obviously take in more space. Keep reading our app review to see why some believe this is really a good iPhone app for magazines.

What it Offers

The offerings of the app is completely up to your library. The magazine app only works with the libraries that offer the Flipster service, so the app will be completely useless if your library hasn’t signed up for the service yet.

The app claims that the service is completely free, but even though this might be the case for you, your library might have to pay for an official subscription. The app is extremely useful when your library does have the deal in place with the creators of the app.

You can simply log in and download all the magazines your library has a subscription to and read them in the comfort of your own home for free.

Layout and Design

The layout of Flipster is well-thought-out. You can, as soon as you have signed in, browse all the magazines that your library has on offer.

You will only see those ones and you can access and download them straight to your device, including any back dated issues that your library would have on offer too.

This makes this app a true gem to have on your iPad, but of course, only if your library is using this service. I can only suggest to talk to your library manager to get them to contact the developer and get this sorted!

Conclusion

The idea of Flipster is a fantastic one, though it falls down at one crucial point. Your library needs to be subscribed to the service the developer offers, which probably means they will have to pay to use the service.

When you can get your library so far to do this, you will be loving this app and probably use it every day. The app is beautifully designed and the layout is extremely well-done. The app is available for iPad only and is only just over 1 MB, without magazine downloads.
