Bowling Islands app review

Reviews

Introduction

As far as serious bowling simulations go in the App Store, there are quite a few that try to be the best. Luckily for us, Bowling Islands by Pascal Inc., developed for both iPad and iPhone, is not one of those games that tries to be a simulator. Instead, Bowling Islands is all about the fun, making crazy lanes to try and make you think outside the bowling box to try and hit the required score to continue to the next crazy lane. If you’re expecting a serious bowling simulator, you’re looking at the wrong review; if you want a fun, engaging and original experience, this bowling game app might be for you. The app weighs in at just under 50 MB.

Gameplay

Imagine you are looking for a fun day out with the family. Half of your kin want to go bowling, while the other half really wants to play mini golf. In real life there is simply no option for this, but luckily on the App Store there is! This game basically takes the best of both two fun sports and blends them together, without losing any of the fun of either game. The gameplay itself is mediocre at best, as there aren’t half as many options as you would have in either a bowling or a mini golf simulation, but the game still remains to be fun. With a ton of tracks and a lot of replay ability, this game is truly fun for the whole family!

Graphics and Sound

The graphics of the game are very bland, and don’t offer much in terms of detail. The game is set on a variety of oddly shaped tropical islands, which is better than a bowling hall I guess, but the developer could have spent a lot more time making the game more attractive for the user. The sound is pretty bland as well, with no real attraction for anyone playing the game. I still would commend this game for its presentation, though don’t expect anything out of the ordinary. The game simply does what it needs to do and nothing more.

Conclusion

If you’re looking for a nice game to get your mind off of things for a while, but you don’t want anything too serious, this game is definitely tailored for you. The bowling app is a fun cross between mini golf and bowling, though it won’t make the true fans of either sport very happy due to the lack of depth. The game doesn’t look very special either and the sound and the graphics are behind of what’s the norm. The game is compatible for both iPad and iPhone and is just under 50 MB.
