Rapid Fire - Secret Camera app review

Reviews

Introduction

Our iPhones and iPads enable us to take plenty of pictures of our loved ones, but often it's difficult to take pictures of people candidly and naturally. Rapid Fire - Secret Camera is an app that can help users to do just that.

What we have here is a simple cloaking camera that can ensure you get just the pictures you want inconspicuously and quickly.

You can find this app in the Photo & Video section of the App Store, where it can be purchased for 99 cents. The cost is explained by the fact that this is an ad-free app, which is absolutely essential for an app like this one.

Pick Your Preferences

Rapid Fire - Secret Camera takes up a minimal 1.3 MB of space on your iPhone or iPad. The user interface of this app consists of a simple and basic app template with a navigation menu at the bottom which allows users to jump to the various sections, including Preferences, Disguises, Videos, and Done.

The Preferences section allows you to make the basic adjustments such as Vibrate on Capture, Half Resolution, and the number of seconds between shots. The latest version of this app also allows for shooting videos. You can also adjust the video quality here to save space or to take max resolution videos.

Disguise Your iOS Device

My favorite part of this camera app is the Disguises section. Users can choose between four built-in disguise options. You can choose a blacked-out screen to mimic telephone conversation or a locked and “sleeping” iPhone. A live map can also be used; this is a fully-functional map that shows up on the screen.

You'll also find a built-in live web browser which can be used to surf your favorite websites while the app rapidly takes pictures or record video. Last but not least, you also have the option of taking a picture from your Camera Roll (including perhaps a screenshot of your favorite app?) as a disguise.

Another cool feature added in the latest version of this app is the ability to save captured images into the Shared Documents folder rather than your Camera Roll, so even if someone grabs your iOS device suspecting your covert photography, they will be less likely to find the captures photos.

Final Words

Rapid Fire - Secret Camera is a fantastic app, whether you are using it for regular street photography or to take decent pictures of your kids who refuse to remain still. This app is easy to use, runs very smoothly, and is highly effective, so I'd definitely recommend grabbing this one on your iPhone or iPad if you are looking for this kind of utility.
