Eggy 100 HD app reviewEggy 100 HD Price: Free For: iPad The Eggy 100 HD app by Blake eLearning is an educational app to help kids learn to read by teaching them to recognize and learn sight words. Sight words, basically, are those that a child should immediately recognize on sight, like “the,” “she,” “he,” “where,” was,” “a,” “to,” and “I.” This is a free app that teaches a portion of what your child will learn using the Eggy 250 HD app, which costs $2.99. The app uses a fun and motivational way to teach your child 100 sight words. The app is brought to you from the team that created the website Reading Eggs, educators with more than 20 years of experience. With the app, you get four levels with 25 words each. The game is motivating and fun for kids three years and up, and you can choose the voice in the game to have one of three accents: English, Australian, and a generic United States accent. The sight words your child uses most frequently are taught first, using a multi-sensory approach that combines both written words and voice. Your child has to swipe the flying egg that contains the proper word in order to survive. He or she will start out with three lives per level, and the child can earn extra lives by catching mini eggs. When a bad egg, wrong word, or distraction is swiped, your child will lose a life. There’s the option to build a jigsaw egg for a surprise. At the end of each lesson, the word the child just learned is spelled for retention.Eggy 100 HD app review Your child will earn egg ratings for every level he or she passes, and little egg creature animations will play at the end of each level. There’s a bonus level, and your child will earn a trophy for completing all 25 levels. The app was updated to Version 1.1 on July 5, 2012 to add a speed options within the Settings section. You can adjust how fast the app plays in order to better match it to your child’s age and ability. The app has 13 ratings with an average of four out of five stars. This version has six ratings with an average of 3.5 stars. Get the Eggy 250 HD app here.
