Kids Puzzles is a great animal puzzle app for preschoolers. The menu is set on a globe, and as such the animals are grouped according to geographical location. The farm animals and house pets section is included in the free app, and there are many more available with the full app. Examples include marine animals, jungle animals, and arctic animals.

This app has two difficulties of easy and hard. On easy you match the critter to the silhouette, and on hard you do a traditional puzzle in drag-the-piece fashion. It is still quite easy as you don't have to rotate, but for preschoolers this is appropriate.

 

Great Graphics

Kids Puzzles has a great illustration style. It is a fun, textured cartoon look that looks real enough for kids to recognize, but is abstract as well. My daughter kept saying “pig funny!” She had fun trying to drag the animals to their silhouettes, and enjoyed the app. It was tricky at times because she would grab the hedgehog, which is tiny and trickier to begin with, but then his silhouette would be behind the cow and she would have to wait for it to walk out.

Another thing that was a touch frustrating for her was that you can only see a few of the animals at a time. She would want to put the pig on to its spot, but the pig is not in the first puzzle piece selection. After placing the first few, she could do the beloved pig, but toddlers don’t have a lot of patience.

Kids Puzzles - Joyo the Animals Explorer is an iPad and iPhone app for kids to put together puzzles. There are two difficulties where you can choose easy and place the animals on their silhouettes, or hard where you do a puzzle piece puzzle. The app comes with the farm and house hold animals unlocked, and there is also arctic, jungle, and marine animal islands on the globe menu. This app has great selection, a great layout for kids to work in, and kept my daughter happy for a good few minutes. Overall, I would recommend this app to people who like a different illustration style, and who have children of multiple ages as it does a good job of covering the difficulty levels.
