Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies app review

Reviews

Introduction

I’m not sure what number we are on in games in the Phoenix Wright series, but it must be number five or sox of this amazing series. Developer Capcom does it again with Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies for iPhone and iPad, delivering a fantastic game that seems to be designed for the touchscreen and makes full use of all the features that iOS has to offer. The game plays more like an adventure game and is basically a courtroom simulator where you get to be the attorney trying to prove your client’s right! The first episode of the app is free and any additional episode (there are four) costs $4.99, though if you buy all of them at once you get the last one for free! The app weighs just under 500 MB and it will keep you busy for hours on end.

Gameplay

The Phoenix Wright series has always been all about investigating the crime scene and interrogating witnesses and the prosecuted. This makes the game very text heavy, but the writers at Capcom sure know what they’re doing as the written content is really entertaining and hilarious at times. As you will be investigating, you will have to take evidence with you to prove your case in court. You will switch between these gameplay elements and as soon as you hear the prosecuted say something that incriminates them. This usually is very subtle so try and pay attention when you play the game!

Graphics and Sound

You can tell this game is being made by one of the best developers in the world. This game really stands out due to the graphical style and the amount of detail put into the different scenarios. You will be looking for evidence in these detailed scenes and unlike other games you will not find it easy to find something, simply as everything is so detailed. The sound of the game is also amazing. The music is made by genuine composers who have made music for games like Street Fighter and Resident Evil and the sound effect of the game are great and in some cases even hilarious!

Conclusion

You might think that $14.99 is a steep price to pay for any game on the App Store, but I beg you to remember this game was not originally developed for this platform. This game was designed for the Nintendo 3DS, but is actually better suited for iOS. I would highly recommend the purchase of this game, especially since this game gives you so much play time in exchange for your money. The app is designed for iPad and iPhone and weighs in at just under 500 MB.
