Price: Free
For: iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation), iPod touch (5th generation) and iPad with iOS 4.2 or later
The Bang: Battle of Manowars app by Catmoon Productions Ltd. is shooting/strategy/RPG game for your iOS device. The character’s name is Obry Gunpowder, which is perfect for today’s celebration of gunpowder!
In this medieval world, fantasy blends with reality as you play Obry Gunpowder, a brave mechanic. Kings fight against warlocks, dukes that are actually bears enslave bees, and crazy rabbits chase peasants. The entire premise of the game is the battle between the Realm of Shadows and the Rainbow kingdom, and only Gunpowder can help.
Features of the app include 72 stages, three stages of difficulty, and an easy, intuitive user interface. You get a gameplay tutorial and an in-depth game manual, Retina display support, and interactive global leaderboards with GameCenter. Bang: Battle of Manowars comes with 45 cannons and have the option to buy 15 different Manowars to use. There are several in-app purchases you can make, ranging from $1.99 to $99.99.
The music is good, the art is bright and highly-textured for Retina displays, and the game has a great fairy-tale feel to it. There are tons of explosions and unexpected tactics, so be prepared for surprises.
There are lots of bonuses and the chance to gather extra weapons and spells to use against your enemies. You can hit them with electricity, bee spells, and even heavy meteor rains. The controls are responsive and easy to use. The game is fast paced and is totally addictive.
The app is rated for kids nine and up due to the fantasy violence. It has seven ratings with an average of 4.5 out of five stars. Customer feedback is generally positive, although one customer seems to have problem with the app crashing, although no one else has complained about it. The app was released on October 23, 2012.
The in-app purchases are ridiculously expensive, but you can play the game without them.
