Gridlee

Price: Free

Gridlee by David Valdeita Loureiro is a great app if you're a fan of classic arcade games from the 1980s. It was newly released on January 25, 2013,  and it will take you right back to those carefree days of arcade fun.

Even if you aren’t a big arcade fanatic, don’t worry, as this game’s simple premise and addictive gameplay will soon have you hooked. This game is actually based upon the MAME4iOS platform and was developed by Videa, Inc. back in 1982.

The hardware that Gridlee used eventually turned into the Bally/Sente SAC I system, which, for those who don't know, was a cartridge-based game platform. Some of the games that were played on it included Hat Trick, Stocker, and Snake Pit. Gridlee uses the original ROM images straight from the only Gridlee machine in existence. The owners have given the go-ahead for people to go ahead and freely duplicate the ROM images and be used by MAME users, strictly for non-commercial use.

As for the Gridlee game, it's fairly basic. The controls react quite well, so you won't be disappointed. In this game you'll be moving about a grid that stretches endlessly into the distance. There are obstacles that are bouncing around and above you, trying to destroy you as you work your way around the grid.

Gridlee already has 173 customer ratings with an average of 4.5 out of five stars and feedback comments are positive.

I see that this game has caused quite the stir of excitement among old-school gaming fans and certainly those with an interest in MAME.
