Nick app review: for those who can't get enough Nickelodeon

Reviews

Nick

Price: Free

Nick by Nickelodeon is perfect for the kids to keep them busy and entertained with all their favorite Nickelodeon programs. Besides just being able to watch videos through this app the kids will also enjoy the games, animated shorts, and original videos acting almost as a companion tool to the popular TV channel.

Nick was updated on May 30, 2013. It should be noted that you'll only be able to use this app if your iOS device is running iOS 5.0 or higher.

User Experience
This app gives kids access to all kinds of Nickelodeon goodies that will keep them busy on that rainy-day or even while out and about. As mentioned there is a wide variety of recent episodes and videos so they can catch up on shows they've missed plus they are given a way to enjoy Nickelodeon further with games and activities. Because Nickelodeon has such a wide variety of programing options this app is ideal for kids ages four and up.

Features
You will find a wide variety of features in this app giving kids almost an immersive experience when it comes to their favorite shows. The original videos are a great and fun way to give kids more of what they love from their favorite characters such as Lucas Cruikshank, Jerry Trainor, Jennette McCurdy, and Big Time Rush. These videos are updated daily so kids can check back often.

As well there are some rare animated shorts as well as new ones, games, the ability to save your favorite videos/games, full episodes available to watch, polls to take part in, and even updates from the actual Nick Stars. The updates are especially fun and feature things like tweets, the latest photos, and posts.

There is also quick and direct access to categories and characters through a switch over the main menu. This will bypass all the rest of the items and take you straight to the show you're interested in.

Update Info
Nick was updated on May 30, 2013 and the 1.1 version now features much less crashing issues. You can view sneak peeks of episodes, gameplay has improved, and it's now available on iPod touch and iPhone.

Customer Ratings and Feedback Comments
Nick currently has 73 customer ratings with an average rating of four out of five stars. Users seem to agree that the app is not only fun and easy to use but also incredibly addictive thanks to how much you'll find within it.

Personal Comments by Reviewer
I found the app to be quite impressive. It took the Nick experience you’re used to on the TV and gave it an immersive and interactive feel instead. I liked that there was so much more in here other than being able to watch episodes. Following your favorite stars was really fun and made it that much more exciting.

Pros
• A seemingly endless amount of fun and entertainment
• A way to quickly bypass the main menu and jump to the character or show you’re interested in
• Video exclusives and rare footage you wouldn’t otherwise be able to find
• Plenty of interactive features
• Had a very social feel to the app
• Constant updates being made to the content, some on a daily basis

Cons
• If you choose not to use the direct access it can take awhile to find exactly what it is you’re looking for
• You need to be running iOS 5.0 or higher

For: iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation), iPod touch (5th generation), and iPad with iOS 5.0 or later. Nick is optimized for iPhone 5.
