A Nice Read Aloud
The Littlest Tree is a story about a little twig of a tree looking up to the mature oak, cedar, and pine trees. They look down upon him and rather bully him. Fortunately, he finds a break in the trees to see the children of the village playing. The story is spoken out loud, but there are no written words on the pages. It also does not have a pause or go back option.

There are 15 pages in all, and five are included in the free version. Each of the pages has an interactive portion asking you to tap the tiny branches, the littlest tree, the giant oak, and so on. There are also additional options to purchase the full game and stickers. The stickers are only available for the iPad though, so make sure you know of this before you tell your excited child.

Villagers and More
The Littlest Tree is about the tiny tree, but also about villagers searching for wood to build a new synagogue. Your child can interact with the pages to reinforce their listening skills, and also features a create option. In this option, kids can use stickers to create their own scenarios of characters that are not to be judged by outward appearances. The littlest tree was a strong, caring, and helpful tree. He helped the villagers to build their synagogue.

What I don’t like is that there are no words for the children to follow along. If there were words, I would also like to see the words independently highlighted. This would help the children learn to read as well as interact with the text by tapping the items described.

Final Thoughts
The Littlest Tree - Kids free educational game about trees is an iPhone and iPad app that tells a lovely story about a tiny tree. The book is wonderfully illustrated, and has an easy to follow story. While I enjoyed the story, however, I would like to see words on the pages for the child to follow along. Overall, it is a well-developed app and my girls enjoyed listening to the free portion of the story. There are additional pages available for purchase, and if you are using it on your iPad, then you will get a sticker pack too!
