This is certainly a sharp looking app. There is a lot of content – some of it’s free if you have a subscription to the Tennis Channel on one of the major cable providers, but some of it does require an extra subscription to TC Plus. The actual app itself does not require a lot of space on your iOS device at 7.3MB.

App Use

When you open up the app you’ll be asked to choose your cable subscriber to authenticate your subscription, but you only have to do this the first time you use the app. Once you’ve got that out of the way you can start using the app. There are four main sections: Featured, TC, TC Plus, and On Demand. The featured section includes highlights and interesting news items. It’s a nice little addition to keep you up to date with what’s happening in the tennis world.

TC is the heart of the app - from here you can access any programing that’s been shown on the regular channel in the last 24 hours, so you don’t have to worry if you missed something you can always catch up with the app. A subscription to TC Plus will give you access to extra live content, including matches that wouldn’t otherwise be available. The on demand feature also requires a subscription to TC Plus.

What this app lacks is access to a strong schedule, player bios and statistics. This is pretty disappointing in a sports app.  These little extras have come to be expected in a sports app so it’s a glaring omission. This app is little more than an app version of the television channel with some extra live content.
