Advent 2012 app review
Advent 2012
Price: Free
For: iPhone, iPod touch, iPad with iOS 4.3 or later
Advent 2012 by MagicSolver.com Ltd. is a free app that gives you one free Christmas app a day from December 1 through December 25.
On a traditional advent calendar, you open a door on each day to reveal either a Christmas-themed image or a little chocolate, depending on the type of calendar you have. In this version, though, you’ll get a free app.
It’s not as simple as launching the app and choosing a door, though; you’ll be treated to Christmas tunes that will play while you work the app. Also, there’s a mini game to play before you open the door to reveal the free app. It’s not hard, but it offers you the chance to try to beat your time on the next day.
All of the apps offered would normally be offered for free, but they might not necessarily be ones you’d find or choose for yourself; so this can be a fun way to try something new. There’s sure to be something for everyone here, young and old.
The app is also Game Center integrated so you can compete for achievements and global leaderboards.
The app itself is available in 14 languages and has 546 customer ratings with an average of 4.5 out of five stars. Feedback comments are all positive.
This is a great idea and one I hope they do every year; I used to love opening advent calendars as a kid and instead of crappy chocolate, I’d much rather get a free app every day.
