Introduction

Anyone who hasn’t heard of The Guinness Book of World Records has probably been living under a rock for the past few decades. With the Guinness World Records 2015 - Augmented Reality app you can take your enjoyment of these records to the next level. This is a free app and it’s compatible with the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

3D Records

The Guinness Book of World Records has few peers in the publishing world and it doesn’t have too many in the App Store either. There are apps that focus on interesting facts and historical curiosities, but not many that can boast the type of access to world records that you’ll find in the Guinness World Records 2015 - Augmented Reality app. This is a unique app designed to create a different kind of experience for viewing world records not found anywhere else.

Best iphone and ipad apps

There are some serious issues with this app though that you may have difficulty getting past. The most glaring of which is that it’s all but useless unless you also own the Guinness Book of World Records 2015. This is for all intents and purposes simply a companion app for this particular volume. The only thing you can really do with this app without access to the actual Guinness Book of World Records is to preview the app, which is definitely a little disappointing. It’s also quite slow to load on boot up. This app will require 223 MB of available space on your iOS device.

How it Works

As a companion app for the Guinness Book of World Records this app works just fine, but if you don’t have it don’t bother. This is not an interactive online version of the Guinness Book of World Records if that’s what you’re looking for; having said that, it is a cool app if you do have the book. The apps purpose is to make your books best pictures pop off the page in 3D. To make this work you simply tap on the 2015 Book tab on the main page, tap on go, and then tap on the camera icon and the app will scan the page of your choice and make it come to life in 3D. It’s a pretty amazing effect. The app does include several pages already scanned as suggestions to get you started as well.

If you don’t own a copy of the Guinness World Records book you can tap on shop in the bottom right corner of the app and you’ll be directed to the Amazon store to order a copy online. If you’ve never ordered anything on Amazon before you’ll have to set up an account first. There really isn’t anything else to this app.

If you love the Guinness World Records books and run out to purchase the latest copy every year then this app is definitely for you.
