Ruckus app review
Ruckus
Price: Free
For: iPhone, iPod touch, iPad with iOS 5.0 or later
Ruckus by Ruckus Media Group is a reader app and storefront for your iOS device.
Children’s book apps are becoming more popular all the time and Ruckus Media Group recognizes that many parents want a centralized app they can go to for readalong ebooks, interactive books, and an organizer that will keep all their favorite titles.
The app launched with about 100 interactive titles and works with any iOS device running iOS 5.0 or later. Originally the developers launched an iPad-only app but quickly realized that people let their kids use their iPhones and iPod touch devices as well.
Multiple publishers offer their goods in Ruckus; according to the developer, approximately 1000 pieces will be coming to the app. One free title per week will be available alongside the for-pay titles.
Anything you download lives on your device so your child can watch it anywhere, even without an Internet connection. You can get short films, readalong books, interactive titles and even music videos.
Some of the titles available in the store are My Little Pony “Things That Go Bump In The Night,” Curious George “A Winter’s Nap,” The Cat in the Hat “A Sticky Situation,” and Dino Dan “Air Dino.”
Ruckus was released mid-December 2012 and is available in English only. It has a total of 17 ratings with an average of 3.5 out of five stars. Feedback comments are positive.
My daughter is going to love this app. I’m always looking for new ebooks for her; the addition of videos and other content is a real bonus.
