TonePad by LoftLab is an app that lets you create music on your iOS device.

All you have to do to make some amazing melodies with TonePad is to tap on your screen. It blends art design with music making for a truly incredible experience.

When you first launch the app, you’ll see a 16x16 grid of circles. You can turn notes off or on, edit, save, and upload your creations to share with friends.

No matter how many notes you choose to play at once, it all sounds great: the sound quality will not suffer. You can save as many created songs as you like and any song you make will save automatically when you exit the app.

To share with friends, upload the song and give your friends who have TonePad the code. They can hit the Download button, enter the code, and hear the song on their own iOS device.

For the best sound, the developers recommend you use headphones, although you can use the speaker if you want.

Not only is this app pleasant to listen to, it’s also great to look at. The notes glow and radiate from the center outwards in waves of color. You can customize the colors for the pulse color, foreground, and background if you want, when you go into settings.

TonePad was updated to Version 1.2.1 on January 7, 2012. The update added an obscenity filter for uploaded song titles. The current version has 9429 ratings with an average of 3.5 out of five stars. Feedback comments are positive.

If you like music creation apps, you will absolutely love this app. The only downside is that it sucks battery power fairly quickly.
