bluespots - Free: a social interaction app to bring people together

Reviews

Introduction

bluespots – Free by Dushyant Gaur is an innovative app with the express purpose of bringing people together. Sometimes, it can be frustrating if you’re out at a crowded bar trying to connect with friends, or make new friends. This app is designed to bridge that divide and turn a potentially disappointing night out into a time you’ll never forget.  This app has a lot of potential if you’re trying to connect with new people. bluespots is a free app and it’s compatible with the iPhone and iPad.

Connect With People at Your Favorite Hotspots

There are so many different social interaction and communication apps it’s difficult to keep track of them all. Whether you’re looking for a dating app, a simple messaging app, or a full blown social meeting place there are bound to be dozens of apps available and they’re generally free. That makes it hard to decide what the best ones are, and making the right choice generally comes down to a little good old fashioned trial and error. In this context bluespots – Free is a decent effort.

There aren’t any pop up ads to distract you with this app which is definitely a good thing, and there are no in-app purchases either. What did bother me about this one was the total lack of in-app instructions, there isn’t even an introductory walk through. There is a link to a YouTube video that explains how the app works on the App Store download page, but there should at least be a link to this video within the app itself – without it you’re left to fumble your way around as you figure things out. bluespots - Free app will require 10.6 MB of available space on your iOS device.

The Essentials

Before you can get started using this app, you’ll have to enter your 10 digit phone number, which is used as a tool to connect you with other app users that are nearby. The bluespots - Free app also uses Bluetooth technology to find people in the area so you’ll need to make sure it’s turned on as well, before you attempt to use the app. Once you’ve done both of these things, you’ll be asked to allow the app to access your contacts so that it can match you with any of your contacts that already use the app. The rest is up to you. Bluespots – Free will also allow you to connect with any other users that you haven’t met that are close by – as long as they’ve made themselves visible.

This is a very simple app to use. The main body of the app is a news feed that will show you any nearby users that have made themselves visible, as well as your existing friends that are in the area.  It includes their basic information such as a snapshot, their phone number, how far they are from you, and what direction they’re traveling towards. It also allows you to connect with them via text message, phone call, or WhatsApp. It does work well if you’re hoping to run into friends that you might not have known were at the same club – as long as they’re using the app too. It isn’t really necessary if you already know they’re there though.

Final Thoughts

If you’re looking for a simple social media connection tool to help you hook up with people while you’re out and about then Bluespots – Free is a pretty decent option. This app uses Bluetooth technology to discover and connect you with other users that are nearby. It’s probably not necessary if you already expecting to meet somebody, but it works well if you’re hoping to run into people you weren’t expecting or other app users that you have never met before.
