Color Worlds app review: strange but wonderful game

Reviews

Introduction

Color Worlds is a strange and wonderful game app that will open up a fantastic world of mystery and wonder. Developed by Andrey Melihov, the game comes with the default languages of English or Russian. It is compatible with iPod touch, iPad, and iPhone with iOS 7.0 or higher. The iTunes description page is certainly interesting, written in the form of a letter from an old friend. A link mentioned in the letter takes the user to another letter with more in-depth instructions on how to play.

The puzzle game is listed for kids nine and older due to mild horror and fear themes.

Gameplay

The point of the Color Worlds game is to restore some old paintings; don't worry about having to be an artist, though, because you'll be using a magic plate and some tubes of paint. All you have to do is transfer drops of paint in the right order. Don't think this will be child's play, because you can only move paint drops onto the adjacent space if it is free.

You restore the paintings one by one, and as you complete them you will earn more paint tubes to use. You will be rewarded with one tube, for completing the stage, one tube for completing within the allotted time, and a third for completing the stage with the “x” which is hidden somewhere on the game board.

You need a certain number of paint tubes for each painting. The more paint tubes needed, the harder it will be to restore, with new paint drops and obstacles that will appear on the game board. To make it easier on yourself, as you go through the museum, gather up the hidden tubes of paint that are throughout. As you restore a painting it will open up a whole new world, too.

The guest pass you are given will allow you to restore the paintings in the first 10 levels. After this you will have to buy a VIP pass to the museum. Before you start, take advantage of the tutorial and training offered!

Color Worlds has improved game graphics, a redesigned UI, new secrets, and hidden tubes of paint in this latest version. After you restore at least one you will be able to choose the soundtrack for the game.

Final Thoughts

I like the Color Worlds game! I didn't think I would at first. I'm not a huge fan of this type of game (think “Digits”) but the other aspects of the app spruce it up enough to make it interesting. The spooky music and atmosphere is a bonus, too. If you like this kind of game, check out Color Worlds.
