Swing Ace by Sina Moetakef is one of the simplest, most challenging, fun little games you’re likely to come across in the App Store. There are all kinds of complicated and graphically stunning games to be found on Apple devices, but complicated doesn’t necessarily translate into a winner. Sometimes keeping things as basic as possible can result in a winning formula that the expensive games simply can’t match. The developers of Swing Ace definitely believe in this philosophy, and they’ve come up with a highly addictive game that will keep you coming back for more. This is a free app and it’s compatible with the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch.
If you think about some of the most popular App Store games, most of them have included some pretty basic game play options. Angry Birds and Flappy Birds are two great examples – these games aren’t complicated, but they are highly addictive and both have experienced a great deal of popularity. Swing Ace relies on the same basic strategy of these two more famous apps. The result is a pretty good game that’s hard to walk away from. After all, most of us don’t have the time to learn a bunch of complicated instructions – we just want a game that’s a quick distraction from everyday life that we can pick up and play right away.
This game really is a lot of fun. It features a simple sort of space age themed background that might remind you a little bit of a lava lamp, which is bound to bring back some fond memories for some. There are some ads, but they’re pretty infrequent so they aren’t a major annoyance. There are also in-app purchases, but these are simply for purchasing more lives so if you’re confident in your abilities you won’t have any need of this option. It also includes full Game Center integration so you can quickly compare your own high score against those of your family and friends. This app will require 28.6 MB of available space on your iOS device.
How to Play
Playing Swing Ace is all about using the motion sensors in your iPhone or iPad. As multiple square and rectangle shaped objects fly in your direction, your job is to keep your glass globe out of their path. Your globe is tethered to a string which you swing back and forth to avoid obstacles. If you lean it to the right and hold it in that position it will stay where you leave it, but the minute you return your device to a level position the globe will start swinging wildly on the end of the rope. It can take a couple of seconds to slow its momentum, so if you’re not careful you can easily end up swinging right into a block. The globe can take a minor knock, but if you swing into a block at high speed it’s game over. Swing Ace includes 100 different levels so you’re bound to spend a lot of time trying to master this one.
