-iTime- app review: an app that helps calculate time between one period and another

Reviews

Introduction

If you’ve ever wondered how many minutes there are in a year, or how many seconds for that matter, you’ll probably find the -iTime- app very useful. This app by C.N.P. can help you calculate just about any time period. You can use it to calculate the amount of time that’s passed from one day to another, as a way to create reminders, and it makes a great conversational piece at parties as well. Unless you’re really good at math you’re not likely to be able to do many of these calculations in your head so it’s a good thing that there’s an app for this. The -iTime- app is available for purchase from the App Store at a cost of $1.99 and it’s compatible with the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

Calculate Any Date or Time Interval

-iTime- is a rather unique app – there aren’t very many like it in the App Store. There are couple of apps that do similar things – age calculators are fairly common, but this app can do a lot more than simply calculate your age in minutes or hours. Do you want to know how many hours you’ve been alive? You can quickly figure that out with this app. Perhaps there’s an important date in your life that defines who you are and you’d like to know the time from that event to now, again you can do that with this app. It really is a lot of fun.

This app does have a pretty clean user interface featuring a sort of retro early Windows style theme which is kind of nostalgic and it’s completely free of ads. Navigating your way around the app isn’t difficult as all the main features of the app can be accessed using the menu along the bottom of the screen. The only real issue I had with this app is that it doesn’t really provide you with any instructions – there are some examples that you can use to get a feel for the app, but a well laid out set of instructions or FAQ page would be a welcome addition. The -iTime- app will require 6.6 MB of available space on your iOS device.

How It Works

The apps functionality is very basic, you can choose to calculate a period from one day to another by tapping on the time icon on the menu bar, or you can determine the amount of time that has passed or will pass from a set date by tapping on the date icon. There is also the option to use this app as a reminder by tapping on the reminder icon on the menu and selecting a date and time to set your reminder for – you can also specify the type of intervals you’d like the reminder to repeat if any.

The really cool part of the -iTime- app is the ability to quickly convert your time periods into seconds, days, years, minutes, hours, weeks, months, and even into Mars years (I particularly liked that last one). This is the part of the app that has the potential to make it the center of attention at parties. If you’re having friends or family over for the holidays you might want to pull this app out to get the conversation started.

Final Words

Dates in time are important for measuring milestones in our lives. The one thing we can never prevent is the steady march of time, but we can have fun with it. With the -iTime- app you can calculate the amount of time that’s passed, or will pass, between any interval of time and date. You can convert this interval into just about any format you like – even Mars years! This is a fun app that I recommend you download from the App Store.
