La Vue by Andreas Ekegren is a unique app that mixes streamed stations of ambient music with live police radio, all while displaying incredible pictures of various U.S. city skylines.
You'll be hard pressed to find another app that blends these components together and it’s done in a very appealing way.
You can navigate from city to city by swiping the screen. Each city offers you a new, unique audiovisual so you'll never see repeats. The Ken Burns-style display of photos is just beautiful, capturing all kinds of wonderful shots in the U.S. cities. The screen also display the current time in the city on the screen. You can use Facebook and Twitter for sharing as you scroll through such cities as New York City, Los Angeles, Baltimore, and Chicago.
You can listen to this app on the go by plugging in your headphones, or by using it at home as your music if you have a system that plays from your iOS device.
A neat feature about this app is that you can use it as your alarm clock. You'll be able to use it with your iPhone alarm function to then wake up to visuals and music from various cities.
La Vue was updated to Version 1.1 on November 16, 2012. The update fixed Facebook and Twitter sharing for the iPad and added the ability to tap the background to show or hide player and clock controls.
The one thing I have to note here is that the app is dependent upon the activity that is currently happening on the music stations and police radio at the time of listening. What's great about that is that each time you listen you are guaranteed a different experience.
