Avvo app review: a simple app to help you find a lawyer for any occasion

Reviews

Introduction

When you need a lawyer, it can be quite frustrating trying to narrow down the choices. First of all, you have to find a lawyer that specializes in the particular issue you’re trying to find help with and then you have to make sure that their credentials are up to snuff. After all, there’s no point in hiring a lawyer with a bad reputation as you will only walk away extremely frustrated. The Avvo app is an innovative offering you’ll find in the App Store designed to help you with your lawyer search. This is a free app and it’s compatible with the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

Perhaps the biggest compliment you can pay this app is to say that it’s actually quite innovative. If you do a quick search of the App Store, you won’t find very many apps that provide this type of service. There are a couple of apps that provide you with information how to find a lawyer, but they don’t actually provide a directory of lawyers per se. Avvo is really a one-of-a-kind app that not only points you in the right direction of a lawyer, for your specific circumstances, it also provides you with all of the background on those lawyers to make the right decision.

The Avvo app has a great user interface and it’s very easy to use. Best of all, if you have any questions on how to use the app, or what you should be looking for in a lawyer, there is a great help and guide section that you can use for this purpose. There are no ads or in-app purchases to worry about either. This app will require 16.6 MB of available space on your iOS device.

How It Works

The Avvo app is very easy to use. When you open it up for the first time the first thing you’ll want to do is to select the type of lawyer you’re looking for – to do this you’ll notice a series of boxes at the top of the app window labelled with the different types of lawyers available. You just simply slide this to the left or right and find the type of lawyer you’re looking for, then tap on the appropriate box and then tap on see results at the bottom to bring up a list of lawyers near you. You can view lawyers in a list format or on a geographical map of the United States.

I found the list view easier to work with, but that may be down to individual preference. In the list view you’ll see a list of the top 30 search results near you. Each profile snapshot includes a five star rating of that lawyer, tells you how many customer reviews there are of the lawyer, and tells you how far away the lawyer is. If you tap on the profile snapshot you’ll be able to access the complete profile for that lawyer including all the reviews and contact information. It all works pretty seamlessly and if you have any questions at all you can simply tap on the guides and help icon in the bottom menu.
