Pinz app review: save pins for all your favorite driving destinations 2021

I’m the first person to admit that I have a difficult time remembering driving directions for places that I visit rarely. Some people have an uncanny ability for recalling this type of information, but I’m just not one of them.

That’s why I’m glad that my iPhone lets me quickly access GPS guided directions to wherever I want to go. It’s a huge time saving feature, but one thing that would make it better would be the ability to save all of the various places I visit on occasion so that I can quickly access them without having to input the same information again and again.

That’s exactly what the Pinz iPhone driving app was created to do. With this driving app, you simply drop a pin on a map and save it for future reference. This app is available for purchase from the App Store at a cost of $0.99 and it’s compatible with the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

Behind the Pinz

Pinz was created by a small company from Redmond Washington called KandidSoft LLC. They haven’t been around a long time, having only been established in 2013, but in the three short years that they’ve been producing apps they’ve come up with some useful creations. Their apps tend to focus on fulfilling basic needs that people have.

They only have two other apps so far, but they’re both very interesting ones. Along with the Pinz app we’re looking at here, they’ve also released an app called Dialectte and another one called Easy Returns Tracker. These are essentially all productivity apps designed to help you in your daily life.

Dialectte is a language learning app that’s based around the idea of social media sharing. Essentially, anyone can use this app to learn a new language and the idea is that you’ll share information and phrases about your own native language with people that speak other languages and through that interaction you can learn a new language.

Their Easy Returns Tracker app allows you to record all of your purchase receipts in case you need them in the future. You can then use them in place of paper receipts if you need to return something to the store. This one sounds like a great idea as there’s nothing more frustrating than going to return a product only to discover that you can no longer find the receipt.

Although their current catalogue of apps is fairly limited, KandidSoft seems to be a company with a lot of promise. All three of their offerings so far provide a service for which there is a clearly defined need. It should be interesting to see what they come up with next.

Access Directions Quickly

There are all kinds of apps that can help you with driving directions, but most of these are designed to allow you to input directions each time you use the app – they don’t have a way for you to save frequently visited places so that you don’t have to input the same information over and over again.

That’s the great advantage of Pinz. It does allow you to save all of the directions to your frequently visited places for use in the future. It’s quite a unique app with a lot of potential for success.

While it is a paid app, it’s pretty reasonably priced at $0.99 so that shouldn’t be much of a deterrent for most people. One of the most impressive things about this app, is its great set of instructions – not only are they very clear, they also include sample images that show you exactly how something works.

Once you purchase the app there are no further in-app purchases and there are no ads to worry about. This app will require 7.2 MB of available space on your iOS device.

The Anatomy of the App

The Pinz app has a very simple user interface that doesn’t require a lot of training to figure out how to use. The first thing you have to do is sign up for an account and then you have full access to the app. They’ll also guide you through a brief walk-through of the app’s main features once you finish the sign up process.

The basic idea of this app is that you can add as many pins on the built-in map as you like and each pin represents a location that you visit somewhat infrequently, but also one that you’d still like to be able to have access to driving directions to when necessary.

With the Pinz app, instead of having to input the target address every single time, you can simply tap on its saved location in the app and it will automatically open up in Google Maps with the correct set of directions.

To add a pin to the map, simply tap on the plus sign in the bottom right-hand corner and then pinch and zoom your way around the map until you find the location of the place you’d like to travel to and then all you have to do is tap and hold on the map for a second and a pin will appear at that location.

You’ll then notice that the street address of that pin is automatically filled in at the bottom of the map. You can also add your own description to explain what significance this location has for you.

Once you’ve saved a pin once it will be available to you in your pin list at any time. To get driving directions for a saved pin you simply tap on it in your pin list and then tap on the car icon in the bottom left corner and the app will automatically open up in Google maps with the correct driving directions already saved and ready to go.
