Trender app review: get paid to create trends

Reviews

Introduction

Nothing comes cheap nowadays and often people find themselves needing to work more than one job just to make a living. If you’re looking for a way to make a bit of supplemental income, but can’t stomach the thought of getting a second job then the Trender App may just be the perfect solution. This app can be used on your iPod touch, iPad, and iPhone. You will be creating trends through social media and getting paid to do so.

The best social networking apps for iPhone and iPad

This app really capitalizes on how important social networking is for brands and marketing. With that in mind top companies end up paying users, such as yourself, to tweet, and post about their brands. Essentially you are sparking trends and interest in these companies/products.

Share Your Thoughts

The Trender App uses a very simple concept really. You are asked to tweet, post, and share information about various brands and businesses. For doing this, the brand/business will then pay you money. You can post comments on their Facebook page, through Google+ accounts, and Twitter. It makes total sense when you start to think about it. I mean what is the best way to learn about something - word of mouth. How many times have you rushed out to buy a product after reading numerous tweets, or checking out comments on Facebook. It’s people who are responsible for setting trends, and those “people” can include you.

This is a new release in the app store, but just like any trend it’s already catching on.

Trender is a revolutionary new app that connects social media trend setters with businesses,” says Ariel Cohen, founder and CEO of the app. “Many people that use social media like to have their finger on the pulse and stay on trend.”

A Unique Idea

The Trender App really should be heralded for its uniqueness. The fact that all these posts are happening in an "organic" way is to the benefit of these many businesses using the app. "Brands don't need to worry about spammy content or Google penalties," points out Cohen. Instead these businesses will be able to reach their targeted market right away through social media.

Businesses have a couple of options when it comes to how they want to use the app. They can obviously allow users to create posts on their behalf, or if they'd rather they can create the posts that they want to appear. Where businesses are seeing a real advantage is when they are promoting a particular campaign. It’s a quick and easy way to get the word out to a large audience and drum up business in the campaign. This marketing campaign requires zero effort on the brand’s part, which is yet another huge advantage for them.

These are the reasons that businesses and brands are seeing the app as worthwhile and are more than happy to pay users to create posts and determine the next trend.

How to Use It

When you launch the app you've got two different ways to use it - as a trender (someone who will be making posts) or as a business. Since we are looking at the app as a way to make money, we’ll take a look at the user experience for a trender rather than a brand or business. You’ve got the option of signing in through your Facebook or Twitter account, keep in mind you will need to use one of these.

Once you have authenticated your account you can fill in the basic information such as your location, occupation, your PayPal address, currency, gender, age group, and interests. This information can then be viewed by the different brands as a way to invite you to make comments on their products. After you have set this up you’re ready to get started.

The navigation bar is located along the bottom of the screen. You can tap on the search tool to browse through the current brands looking for trenders, the messages tool, the My Trends tool, your proposed invites (it shows pending, accepted, and rejected), and you can also change the settings from this navigation bar.

As far as the money you are making, you’ll find it on the top of the screen displayed as your balance. This money can then be accessed through PayPal.

While the concept of the app is really cool, and it’s pretty fun to take part in these trends, the app itself feels a bit clunky. The user interface tends to feel cluttered, the app isn’t always responsive as you tap on various buttons, and it can be a bit cumbersome to navigate. It seems as though the developer could definitely make some improvements in this area and give it a sleeker more user-friendly feel.

Cons

  • You will need to have a Twitter or Facebook account to use the app
  • You may not always have invites or be able to find brands to trend about

Trending Upwards

The Trender App can be used on your iPod touch, iPad, and iPhone and provides users with a way to not only get involved in trends but create them through social media posts. Because you are getting paid to make these posts, the app is all the sweeter. The downfall with this one is its user interface. The concept is cool and unique so it would be nice to see improvements made to the user interface that reflect how unique the idea of the Trender App is. This app is well worth checking out.
