USB Flash Drive Free - File Manager & File Transfer

Reviews

Introduction

As an avid user of mobile devices, I find myself spending less and less time on my home computer and more time using my smart phone or tablet to perform most functions. However, the one area where home-based computers and laptops still far outperform mobile devices is in the quick transfer of files – there are always workarounds with your mobile devices, but it’s never the simplest process.

The best iPhone apps for system optimization

If you do a little bit of research you should be able to find some decent file manager iOS apps that can help make your life easier when it comes to storing, viewing and transferring files, but very few of them seem to work as advertised. One app that’s been around for a while, which seems to do a better job than most, is USB Flash Drive Free. This is a free app and it’s compatible with the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

A Developer with a Bit of Spanish Flair

The great thing about the online world is that it has the ability to make our world much smaller and that allows us to share information, tools, and products anywhere in the world almost instantly. 20 years ago it may have been difficult to imagine a developer from Spain providing a free online tool that anyone in North America could download in an instant, but these days this type of thing is become fairly commonplace. That’s why it’s not surprising to find out that the developer of USB Flash Drive Free is based out of Las Palmas, Spain, and has been making a strong contribution to the App Store for years now.

This app was created by Juan Ramon Rivero and it’s not the only app that he’s released to the App Store – in fact, he’s been fairly prolific over the years. He releases his apps through his company called JR Mobile Apps and there are quite a few of them. Other apps released by this developer include Easy Media Transfer, Easy Downloader, Easy FTP, and Quake Spotter. As you’ve probably noticed, most of these apps are productivity apps designed to make your life easier.

This developer also has a strong social media profile that he uses to promote and distribute information about his apps. You’ll find links to both his Twitter and Facebook accounts on his website. For an indie developer there’s no better way to promote themselves than by using social media.

File Transferring Made Easy

There’s no getting around it, transferring files on an iOS device can be a little challenging, but as with everything else there’s an app for that. USB Flash Drive Free may not be the only app of its kind, but it’s definitely one of the better ones. This app has a simple friendly user interface and it’s also quite aesthetically pleasing as well.

What makes this app so appealing is its simple and well-defined layout. Everything is easily accessible from a simple menu and if you have any questions there’s a comprehensive help section that will guide you through just about anything. There are some ads included in the app, but these are restricted to a small little window in the bottom left corner that you hardly notice at all. This is quite refreshing for a free app where the norm is to include full page ads that take up your entire screen. This app will require 53.6 MB of available space on your iOS device.

How File Sharing Works

This app acts as a sort of window to your iOS device. It’s not that it does anything that you couldn’t already do with your iPhone or iPad – it’s just that it makes everything that much easier to find. When you open the app by default you’ll be in the file sharing directory which allows you to access any file stored locally on your device.

Where this app really shines is in how it allows you to access files that are not on your device and lets you use them as if they were. You can access files via cloud storage services such as drop box, box, Google Drive, One Drive, and WebDav – with that many options you’re bound to find one that works for you. iOS devices have limited storage capacity so it’s a good idea to use these cloud services so that you can expand the options that your available options.

What makes this app so appealing is that it allows you to access multiple cloud services in one app. You don’t have to jump from one app to another to find all of your information and that’s the big appeal.

The app isn’t limited to viewing basic files on your device and through cloud based services either. You can also manage your audio files from within the app and you can even use the app as a player. I’ve always been a fan of making life a little easier if possible and being able to access all of these different sources of information and services from within one app is very appealing.

I’ve used a lot of different file sharing apps on my iPhone and iPad, but very few of them have been as versatile as USB Flash Drive Free. This is an app that provides you with a lot of different file viewing and sharing options and it does it in a very user friendly environment.
