The Weight Watchers app features a bunch of areas which can help you stick to the program and more importantly, your weight loss goals. Let’s go through them one by one. This screen is where you may find yourself spending the most time. From here you can select the food you eat in order to have the associated points automatically added. By clicking the calculator on the top right, you can enter the Fat, Carbs, Fiber, and Protein to get the PointsPlus value. Also, you can select Activity from this menu to track your activity. The PointsPlus screen will show your past days meals as well. Finally, you can track your liquids, milks, fruits and vegetables, multivitamin, healthy oil, and activity

Along with tracking your Points, weight watchers puts a strong focus on ensuring you track your weight over time. The in-person weigh-ins are one example of this. Being able to see your weight over time can be a great motivator. From here, you can access delicious and healthy recipes that weight watchers recommend for you. While the program boasts being able to eat what you want as long as you stick to your daily and weekly PointsPlus allotment, these recipes can expedite the process with low calorie, high deliciousness ingredients. This screen will also display a whole bunch of success stories. So many of these are great motivators, and can provide a good time killer should you find yourself craving something not so Weight Watcher-ish.
As mentioned above, Weight Watchers does not focus on eating only certain foods, or ingredients. In fact, the program is based off of the opposite. Weight Watchers wants you to eat what you want, while maintaining good portion control. This screen shows, Pizza, Cocktails, Pasta, and Salad. Each of these screens lets you add or remove ingredients and adjusts the PointsPlus Total accordingly. T

Weight Watchers has delved into the social spectrum with their program, creating an online community where you can make friends and share stories, ingredients, progress, and more. Though this seems to be in its infancy, it does have good perspectives. After all, it’s human nature to enjoy sharing your success or having company in misery. Hopefully your case won’t be the latter. you eat a piece of pizza without eating the Supreme or Ultimate varieties

The start of Weight Watchers had meetings in person where tips and motivational speeches were given by a leader. Participants in the program are also weighed-in during this time. While these are still two staples of their program, they have made great progress with their online tools and system. Twitter, created by a San Francisco startup called Obvious and publicly released in August 2006, is a free social networking service that enables anyone to post pithy messages, known as tweets, to groups of self-designated followers. The tweets can be sent from and received by any kind of device — desktop, laptop, BlackBerry, cellphone. It's like instant messaging or text messaging, but one-to-many, instead of one-to-one. Twitter has grown with astounding speed, attracting 17 million visitors in April, an 83 percent gain over the previous month, according to the research firm comScore.

News organizations and reporters have been quick to adopt Twitter for an obvious reason: Its speed and brevity make it ideal for pushing out scoops and breaking news to Twitter-savvy readers. The Oregonian in Portland may have been the mainstream media pioneer in this regard; it began posting its own links and aggregating citizen tweets about flooding and road closures during heavy storms in central Oregon in late 2007, when Twitter barely had 500,000 users nationwide. Other newspapers have subsequently used Twitter to post swift-changing updates following natural disasters in their areas.

Reporters now routinely tweet from all kinds of events — speeches, meetings and conferences, sports events. In February, a federal judge gave his blessing to Ron Sylvester of the Wichita Eagle to use Twitter to report on a trial of six suspected gang members, the first time tweeting had been permitted inside a federal courtroom. Sylvester tweeted frequently from the trial, providing a nearly contemporaneous account. On the other hand, not all tweets are equally useful. Tweets from reporters covering the heavily choreographed political conventions last summer produced plenty of snark and trivia, but little in the way of important or interesting news.
In fact, Twitter can be a serious aid in reporting. It can be a living, breathing tip sheet for facts, new sources and story ideas. It can provide instantaneous access to hard-to-reach newsmakers, given that there's no PR person standing between a reporter and a tweet to a government official or corporate executive. It can also be a blunt instrument for crowdsourcing. When a vacant building collapsed in late April, New York Times reporters put out the Twitter equivalent of an APB: "Seeking any eyewitnesses to Lower Manhattan building collapse." Imagine the torrent of data that would have been available to the Times had Twitter been around on the morning of September 11, 2001.

Twitter can also be a kind of community organizing tool for the newsroom itself. When big stories have broken, a few news organizations have channeled the freewheeling exchanges and debates that explode all over Twitter by creating their own hashtags. A day before the Iowa Supreme Court ruled in favor of same-sex marriages in the state, the Des Moines Register created its own hashtag, #iagaymarriage. The tag quickly caught on, becoming so popular that competitors like the Gazette in Cedar Rapids wound up tagging their tweets with it. The Register posted excerpts of some of the resulting discussion, turning it into the 21st century equivalent of the classic man-on-the-street opinion feature. The Herald in Everett, Washington, did something similar earlier this year when its region was flooded; the paper's #waflood hashtag became the go-to code for bulletins affecting the community and a rich source of news and reactions for the Herald.

Facebook’s free iPhone app long reigned at or near the top of the App Store’s charts. That all changed in October, when Facebook unveiled the latest incarnation of its now-universal iOS app. Like Twitter, Facebook now employs horizontally sliding sheets to bring in additional information. Swiping from the left exposes the app’s main navigation bar; swiping from the right brings in the chat module—though only in landscape mode, not portrait. I understand that limitation—there’s only so much horizontal space—but that doesn’t stop my addled brain from attempting to swipe to show it on occasion while orienting my iPad vertically.

When you first launch Facebook, you land on your News Feed. As on the website, you can switch from Facebook’s algorithmically-determined Top News to Most Recent updates by tapping a button. But the Facebook app actually offers more options than the website: You can also choose to show only Status Updates, Photos, or Link posts. Scrolling through your news feed works as you’d expect. As in previous incarnations of the iPhone-only version of the app, scrolling is endless; older posts load in automatically as you near the bottom of the screen. Pulling down from the top of your feed triggers a refresh.

Mind the Gap: The Facebook app leaves a surprising amount of whitespace between where statuses end and the right margin begins. On the iPad, however, the Facebook app makes odd use of space. In portrait mode, there’s a wide gap between where statuses end and the icon for adding Likes or comments appears. If you slide in the navigation bar on the left side, the right margin of those posts instead gets cut off. In portrait mode, then, statuses have the unusual distinction of being simultaneously too wide and too narrow.

In landscape view on the iPad, Facebook always displays either the Chat module or the left navigation bar. (Your swiping determines which.) There’s still a bizarrely wide gap between the artificial margin for posts and the right edge of the screen, though. When you tap to see comments, they fold in from the right edge of the screen, which makes them easy to navigate. Occasionally, though, when I’d tap for comments while in landscape mode with the navigation menu displayed, the comments column wouldn’t properly slide into view. Tapping around enough would fix the problem.

Odd layout choices aside, Facebook’s app gets a lot right. As it does with comments, the app smartly doesn’t bother refreshing the whole screen on the iPad when you tap to see friend requests, messages, or notifications. Instead, a iPhone screen-sized popover appears for each of those features, so you don’t lose your place. The left-side navigation bar is great, too. It includes a search bar that searches across your friends, groups, and Facebook pages, along with quick access to your saved groups, pages, and apps. There’s also a link called Nearby, which is a bit of a misnomer; it shows your friends’ latest check-ins, with a pretty cool map view.
