Ancestry for iPad app review

Ancestry by Ancestry.com gives you a way to trace your ancestry right on your iPad.

There is no need to be an expert at tracing family ancestry in order to use this app. It is meant for beginners or experts and is extremely user-friendly. It's meant to be a reference tool that not only provides you with the information you're seeking but provides it in a fun way.

You can start to build your family tree through this app and even add photos and edit family members. What's really neat is because your iPad is mobile you can take it with you to show relatives your progress.

Features include a new dynamic family tree that has been designed to display more family members, and the ability to customize your tree. The tree includes all your relatives (grandchildren, aunts, uncles, siblings, nephews, nieces, and cousins), a brand new fresh look, a calculator that is used to determine your relationship, privacy settings, hints that are displayed as green trees when Ancestry.com is able to find historical records that may help you build your tree, high-resolution images of the historical documents that are found, and an in-app purchase so you can buy a monthly membership.

Ancestry was updated on Jan. 15, 2013 and has 809 customer ratings with an average rating of four and a half out of five stars.

For me this is one of those apps where once you start with it you have a real hard time putting it down. As your tree grows and you start to learn fun and interesting facts about your family, you’ll find it’s quite addictive making you want to dig even deeper.

For: iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad with iOS 5.1 or later
