Geocaching Intro by Groundspeak Inc is a navigation app that gives users a chance to take part in a global treasure hunt by locating containers outdoors called geocaches and then sharing their experiences online.
This app is a great introduction to the biggest location-based hobby in the world. With over 1.75 million geocaches hidden worldwide and waiting to be found you will never get bored of this app. With this app you will have access to three geocaches nearest your location. Check both your current location as well as your geocache destination on the map. Take advantage of descriptions and hints to help guide you along or take advantage of the simulated compass arrow.
Geocaching Intro was updated to Version 1.3.1 on May 15, 2012. It has a total of 8627 customer ratings with an average of three and a half out of five stars. Feedback suggests the app still has some room for improvement with a number of users experiencing frustration with the app not working quite as well as hoped. Users' biggest complaint is with the distance and direction of the geocache randomly changing despite not having moved.
Being a big fan of geocaching I am always looking forward to an app that will be useful in my treasure hunts. I had some fun with this app and did have some success finding some geocaches. I really like the vibrating audible proximity alert that let me know when I was getting close.
