Fleksy app review

Fleksy

Price: FREE

Fleksy by Sintellia is a text input system that is designed to cater to sighted and blind people alike. In fact, it is the first opportunity that blind people have had to use touch screen phones for typing.

This app is designed for touch-typing and features incredibly simple functionality. You begin by tapping where you think the letters are located and swipe right to enter a space. To change a word or type a punctuation mark, you simply swipe down.

Fleksy offers full support for Facebook, Twitter, email, and text message, so you can practice honing your typing skills with your friends.

Fleksy was updated to version 1.6 in mid-February of 2013. The current version has a total of 159 customer ratings with an average rating of four out of five stars.

Developers Sintellia are frequently updating Fleksy and the latest update included a plethora of improvements, including numerous bug fixes, new swipe gestures such as swiping up and down with two fingers, and overall increased accuracy and responsiveness.

Having become infuriated with Apple’s Auto Correct more times than I care to speak of, Fleksy is a breath of fresh air, albeit with a learning curve. This is definitely a step in a positive direction for predictive text and offers the partially-sighted a wonderful advantage that was previously unavailable. If you are frustrated with Auto Correct I would definitely recommend taking Fleksy for a spin.

For: iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad with iOS 5.1 or later. Optimized for iPhone 5.
