Abby Sight Words Games & Flash Cards for Reading Success

Price: Free

Abby Sight Words Games & Flash Cards for Reading Success by CFC s.r.o. is a fantastic app for kids in Preschool, Kindergarten, Grade One, Grade Two, and Grade Three.

If you’re looking for a fun way to help your child learn to read and recognize sight words, then this is the app for you. There are six games included in the app, with the Pre-K words all unlocked. To unlock all games, an in-app purchase of $1.99 is required.

The fun games your child will play are Word Machine, Spelling, Bingo, Memory Game, Gears, and Flash Cards.

The app has a really industrial, mechanical feel to it that is fun and educational all at once. It will grab your child’s attention and help them learn while they play. They won’t even know they’re learning.

Sight words are those that are used regularly and don’t necessarily have a correspondence between the written letters and the sounds (like “the”) and require children to learn them by rote – or “by sight,” hence the name. This game is designed to help teach your child 220 sight words plus an extra 94 nouns.

Abby Sight Words Games & Flash Cards for Reading Success wasupdated to Version 1.3 on October 31, 2012. The update improved the Word Machine game and Flashcards. This version has 138 customer ratings with an average of four out of five stars. Feedback comments are positive.

I downloaded this onto my iPad and my daughter has had several hours of fun playing it. Her favorite is the Gears game. I recommend this for any parents of children learning to read.

For: iPhone, iPod touch, iPad with iOS 4.3 or later
