Novation Launchpad by Novation is a music app for the iPad that will have you mixing beats and making music in no time at all.

Enjoy eight ready-to-perform music sessions from different genres. Make and remix your own music by re-combing loops and sounds from the app into the multi-color Launchpad grid. Copying features from the renowned “Launchpad” hardware, the creators of this app have made sure to include key features  used by many of the world’s top DJ’s, performers and producers.

With an eight-by-six Launchpad grid for creating up to eight loops and sounds at a time, and with eight volume sliders and eight filter sliders you will feel like a real professional. The FX section allows for repeat and synced filter effects, and you can enjoy additional content from Loopmasters. The ability to load new complete sessions and sounds, a global tempo change, an edit mode for loading samples, and an auto save ability are just a few more features you will be glad to have.

Novation Launchpad was released on February 28, 2013. It has a total of 15 customer ratings with an average of four out of five stars. Feedback comments are fairly positive with the users who enjoy the app appreciating its features and functionality; however some users have expressed frustration with its lack of midi controller and its disappointing comparison to the Ableton Launchpad.

This app is fun and promising and as long as you get rid of the idea that this is the software version of the Launchpad hardware, you should not be disappointed. I like this apps ability for re-mixing music and providing for a unique performance.
