Climate Clock app review

Climate Clock

Price: $0.99

Climate Clock by Benjamin Wong is a unique spin on the traditional weather app.

Weather apps are usually designed to be strictly functional with simple layouts presenting lists of data pertaining the geographical location you are currently viewing. Climate clock is much different and is currently being sold at an introductory price of $0.99, after which the price will be $1.99.

With most weather apps the form is generally lost and the app is all about business; what is the humidity, the temperature, or how much precipitation. Climate Clock is the very opposite with a stunning design that still proves functional.

Climate Clock displays the current weather in the form of a clock. Each hour around the clock shows the temperature for that hour and the expected precipitation, if any. The design is simple and easy to read and you’re not looking at a boring list of numbers.

You can swipe left or right to change locations and settings and can have up to eight locations stored at any one time. The interactive backgrounds change from dark to light based on the weather and the time of day as well as the daily sunrise and sunset. You can also view the current temperature from the home screen where it is shown as an icon badge.

Climate Clock was last updated to Version 2.0 on February 26, 2013 and included numerous refinements and tweaks to improve performance. There have been six ratings for this app with an average score of four out of five stars.

I enjoyed the layout of this app, it’s very attractive and simple to read. Unless you are checking the expected precipitation or long-term forecast you will find that the home screen temperature display is what you use most, meaning you miss out on the super-attractive weather display, although you might find you open the app just to see the clock.
